See Me
(approx. 12" x 12")
This piece was inspired by my interaction with men in New York City's
faith-based shelters. Each night, these homeless individuals sleep
on cots in churches and synagogues throughout the city. I was truly
touched by their stories and wanted to create a piece that would
encourage others to listen as well.
Many New Yorkers spend
their days trying to avoid looking at the homeless people on our
streets and subways. In this piece, Robert (one of the men I met)
looks straight through the article so the reader sees a real person
affected by the impersonal numbers contained in the text.
